So we were put into the lock at Keadby at 2.35pm, and then
had to sit and wait for the tide to turn. It did, at 3.10, and we were off. Now travelling time for the plastic boats is
about 4 hours. Mick had been onto our
Canal Route Planner, which is 99.9% accurate. And it said 6hrs and 57 mins at
just under 4mph. We arrived at Torksey
at just after 9PM. Phew, so the Canal
Route Planner, will be used for all journeys in the future.
It took us 6hours, and that was pushing it at times, but
Mick doesn’t like to thrash our engine.
We have been told Torksey to Cromwell Lock will take 3 hours, but CRP
says 4 hours 29 mins. Will let you know.
It was quite a good journey, some big boys making it exciting
for us. 2 big floating gin palaces had
been out on the Humber, and they crept up behind us, and then roared off up the
river, giving us some lovely waves. WEEEEEEEEE.
Saw a sparrow-hawk chasing something, but it wasn’t successful. Floating weed formed rafts, which the crows
seemed to like, as they, too, bowled along with the tide.
This coaster is moored just outside the lock.
Getting towards Torksey, I had turned back to yack with Mick, and I saw a huge bow coming around a bend, behind us, wow. and like busses, there were 2 of them. They look very impressive when they are coming up from behind you. They gave us a chummy wave as they passed.
Unfortunately, I filmed them and forgot to take photos.

Now at Saxilby, and guess what? Its pouring with rain. We were hoping to
turn back here and get back to Torksey, for the crossing to Cromwell Lock at
7am. Not sure what we will do.
